In Sioux Falls: Our Voices Matter
We're all seeing the headlines in Washington and Minneapolis. Uncertainty spreading fast. And the concerns are real.
When I see those headlines, I don't see politics. I see people worried about their futures. And I think about my own family's story.
What Sioux Falls Asked of My Family
My parents came here in 1993 because they read it was the best place in America to start a business. They didn't come for a handout. They came for a chance. They opened a restaurant, worked incredibly hard, and raised three boys behind the counter.
Sioux Falls didn't ask where they came from. It asked what they could build.
That is the American Dream. And I know for a fact it's alive and well right here. I see it in the entrepreneurs across our community. I see it in families working two jobs to buy their first home. I see it in our schools, our churches, our neighborhoods.
Where Your Voice Actually Matters
Here's what I want people to hear right now, especially if you're feeling anxious about what's happening at the national level:
The decisions that actually shape your daily life — your safety, your neighborhood, your opportunity — those aren't decided hundreds of miles away. They're decided right here at City Hall.
The roads we drive. The permits that let small businesses open their doors. The investments in our neighborhoods. Those decisions are ours to make. We cannot control Washington. But we can decide what kind of city we want to be right here at home.
What We're Made Of
Sioux Falls is called the "Best Little City in America" because of our people.
We are a community that believes in hard work, in family, and in a simple idea: we are stronger together. We support local businesses. We help our neighbors shovel snow. We show up.
That belief — in each other, in hard work, in opportunity for everyone — is exactly what should guide our city government.
My campaign for City Council is built on this: everyone deserves a fair shot. Whether your family has been here for five generations or five years — if you are here to work hard, contribute, and build a life, you belong here.
Now More Than Ever
The uncertainty is real. That's exactly why it matters that we show up for each other.
We can keep building a city that values every single person's contribution. We can remind the rest of the country what it actually looks like to be a neighbor.
Sioux Falls has always been that city. Let's make sure it stays that way.
Let's rise together. ☀️
