Frequently Asked Questions
about sioux falls elections
-
“At-Large” means the council member is elected by—and represents—the entire city, not just one area. Sioux Falls has three at-large seats plus five district seats.
-
Sioux Falls labels its three at-large positions A, B, and C to tell them apart on the ballot. All three represent the whole city; the letter is just the seat designation.
-
Sioux Falls elects both district and at-large council members. District representatives are chosen by voters in specific areas. At-Large members—like the seat Vince Danh is running for—represent the entire city, bringing a citywide view while staying accountable to every neighborhood.
-
The next municipal election (Mayor & City Council) is Tuesday, June 2, 2026, aligned with the South Dakota Primary. If no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, a runoff is held three weeks later (June 23, 2026).
-
Use the City’s interactive Council Districts map. Enter your address and it will show your district boundary and council representation.
